Help With Server

Discussion in 'Server Hosting' started by 15LettersMax:D., Jan 7, 2017.

  1. Since my friends server got shutdown since he decided to just stop with it, I've decided to make one. the server port is 27015 so in the port forward section I made a port with 27016-27017. I made it with USO and I can join it and it doesn't appear on the lan tab but I don't know if I'm supposed to do 27015-27017 and have both protocols or one protocol. I also don't know what IP or something I'm supposed to give out for my friends.

TL;DR I need some directions for this.
Sorry for my incompetence and/or my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ explanation.

Internally on your network, you dont need to worry about ports, the game should just show as a LAN server. For external users to play, then yes, you need those ports opened and pointing to your server IP using UDP. Then give your friends your public internet address and it should connect - unless your ISP is using something such as CGNAT, which can prevent users from running servers over the internet.
